The Boeing Model 89 first flew in 1928. Designated the F4B by the
U.S.
Navy and the P-12 by the U.S. Army Air Corps, this fighter was one of the most
successful American fighters between WW I and WW II. The F4B was the
Navy's front-line fighter until replaced by the Grumman F2F & F3F in 1938.
Some Army P-12's remained in service until 1941. |
