Taylorcraft Model D/L-2 Grasshopper

The Taylorcraft Model D was tandem two-seat version of the Model B.  Introduced in late 1941, this aircraft was available with a 65 hp Continental, Franklin or Lycoming engine.

The US Army purchased the Model D as the O-57 observation aircraft.  These aircraft were redesignated the L-2 (liaison) in 1942.  A total of over 2,300 D Models were built.
