The CFM56 is a family of turbofan engines spanning a thrust range of 18,500 to 34,000 lb (82 to 151 kN).  In the last 20 years, nearly 15,000 engines have been sold with over 200 million hours in flight.  Another 2 million flight hours is being added every month.

The U.S. Military uses the designation F108 for its CFM56s.
