Founded in 1938, Société Turbomeca has been involved in compressors and turbines from its inception.  Today, Turbomeca is a leading manufacturer of low- to medium-power gas turbines for helicopters, light aircraft and missiles.

History

1938: Turbomeca is founded by Josef Szydlowski

1947: The company designs its first two gas turbines, the Orédon and the Artouste.

1952: The Marboré is licensed to Continental in the U.S. and Blackburn in the U.K.

1966: Rolls-Royce/Turbomeca Ltd is formed.

2001: Turbomeca becomes part of SNECMA
