de Havilland D.H.100 Vampire

The de Havilland D.H.100 Vampire was the United Kingdom's first single-jet fighter, the prototype first being flown in 1943.

The Vampire was also produced in a ground attack version.  Over 1,900 Vampires were produced in the UK.  License production contracts were arranged in Australia, Italy (Macchi), Switzerland and France (SNCASE).  In addition to these countries, Vampires were flown by the air forces of Austria, Burma, Chile, Canada, Egypt, Finland, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Rhodesia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden and Venezuela.

The Fuerza Aérea Mexicana flew the Vampire from 1959 - 1967 (info from Herminio Pimentel)
