de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver

De Havilland Canada began the design of the DHC-2 directly after World War II in response for a requirement of the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests.  The result was an excellent STOL aircraft.

The prototype first flew in 1947 and production continued into the 1960s.  The Beaver could carry seven passengers or an equivalent amount of cargo.  Of 1,657 Beaver Is built, the U.S. military purchased 980.
