De Havilland Canada (DHC) was formed in 1928 as a subsidiary of de Havilland Aircraft.  Until after World War II, DHC focused on producing Moth aircraft adapted for Canada.

DHC's first design, the Chipmunk, replaced the Tiger Moth in both the RAF and RCAF.  The company focused on on STOL and transport aircraft until acquired by Bombardier in 1992.
