click on photo for more images

The SB2C Helldiver was the last of a long line of Curtiss Navy dive bombers stretching back to the F8C Helldiver of the early 1930's.  The prototype first flew in 1940 but protracted development problems delayed its operational debut until late 1943.

The Helldiver was also purchased by the U.S. Army as the A-25 Shrike.
